Todays Quote comes from Global Climate Change Skeptic Denier, Roy Spencer of the University of Alabama.

Joe Romm, and Climate Progress points out what Spencer really believes his job is in regard to Climate Science, to no ones surprise Spencer reveals his core beliefs are not grounded in science, but a Republican "Wet Dream" of smaller government.

Nicholas, I would wager that my job has helped save our economy from the economic ravages of out-of-control environmental extremism.

I view my job a little like a legislator, supported by the taxpayer, to protect the interests of the taxpayer and to minimize the role of government.

If I and others are ultimately successful, it may well be that my job is no longer needed. Well then, that is progress. There are other things I can do.

Can you imagine the Fox News Circle Jerk that would ensue if such a comment was made by Dr. Richard Alley, or another climate specialist who would dare to put their political ideology in front of the science?

Give the entire article a read. Joe Romm does a wonderful job, as usual, tearing down the arguments of clowns like Spencer, with peer reviewed data, and just enough wit, painting a clear picture of how Denier science rhetoric is used to cloud a clear consensus of climate change empirical data.

Waiting For Reagan

What has happened to the GOP? What do they stand for anymore? Has the Tea Party taken over? I have been trying to wrap my hands around a GOP come lately that doesn't stand for the things the Old GOP used too.

Well, It seems David Brooks may feel the same way. Here is his article from the NYT. where he openly questions the motivations of todays GOP.

Here is a taste.

If the Republican Party were a normal party, it would take advantage of this amazing moment. It is being offered the deal of the century: trillions of dollars in spending cuts in exchange for a few hundred million dollars of revenue increases.

A normal Republican Party would seize the opportunity to put a long-term limit on the growth of government. It would seize the opportunity to put the country on a sound fiscal footing. It would seize the opportunity to do these things without putting any real crimp in economic growth.

Brooks is probably one of the last Republicans who doesn't fear the retribution from the likes of Limbaugh, Beck and Hannity bravely goes on to "call out" the GOP leadership, posing some pretty tough questions in his article.

Today's WTF Moment, Sponsored by Casey Anthony being found Not Guilty

This is from the Washington Post.

Casey Anthony has been found not guilty of murdering her daughter Caylee Anthony.

The seven women and five men of the Florida jury deliberated for more than 10 hours and returned guilty charges of providing false information to law enforcement officials, but found the 25-year-old not guilty of manslaughter or murder.

She was acquitted of the first three charges: murder in the first degree, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child. But she was convicted of the four counts of providing false information to law enforcement officials.

“While we’re happy for Casey, there are no winners in this case,” Jose Baez, her defense attorney, said at a press conference.

After this nothing surprises me anymore.

That poor little girl....

Of Course! It must have been Sabotage.

Limbaugh can't stand that another deregulated industry, failed to protect the Environment with a simple shut off valve. This is just another example of Big Business and Government shirking their responsibilities in the name of profit and increased campaign donations.

5-7 is Now Bowl Eligible?

College Football is trying to make the Bowl season even more meaningless.

Though the NCAA doesn't think a losing team will get in a bowl game, especially with wins over Football Championship Subdivision teams counting toward bowl eligibility, it is still coming up with a contingency plan -- just in case.

"That's what's being discussed at this point, if you can't fill the spots," said Mark Womack, associate commissioner of the Southeastern Conference and a member of the NCAA's Football Issues committee that approved the new bowls. "But historical data will tell you can, so I think the odds of that happening are probably pretty good to fill all those games based on the historical data that we have.

Kentucky Derby vs. Fin-Reg.

Word is that the Democrats might make the Republicans actually filibuster FinReg tonight. That is to say, stand on the floor and talk and talk and talk. And if the Democrats are serious about forcing the Republicans to really filibuster the bill, this is the right week for it: The Kentucky Derby starts Friday, and Kentucky's senior senator, Mitch McConnell, would surely prefer to attend. Given that his members arealready talking about breaking ranks, McConnell may find himself eager to get this kabuki dance over with a little bit early.

This just illustrates how utterly ridiculous the GOP party has become. If this turns out to be the true motivation for the passing of Fin-Reg, how can anyone besides Fox News take the GOP party at face value?
